First United Methodist Church Long Beach feels that music is an important part of the worship experience. Our church has many talented musicians, both vocal and instrumental, that lend their time and talents to the praise and enjoyment of the congregation for a complete worship experience.  We currently have the following large ensemble groups:

ADULT PRAISE BAND — This team of worship leaders specialize in contemporary worship music for special occasions throughout the year, such as during the Easter sunrise service and Just July.  Contact John Cripple for rehearsal times.

CHANCEL CHOIR — This is the primary worship choir for Sunday morning worship services and for special occasions throughout the year, such as Lent, Advent and patriotic holidays.  Rehearsals are Wednesdays at 7pm. 

HANDBELL CHOIR — The handbell choir provides instrumental music for worship services and on special occasions throughout the year.

THAT MEN’S GROUP AND JANE — This men’s group specializes in singing Gospel Quartet style music for worship services and for special occasions throughout the year.  Contact J. D. Tripp for rehearsal times.

GLORY BE — This ladies ensemble specializes in SA/SSAA musical arrangements to be sung throughout the year for worship services and special occasions.  Contact Mandy Long for rehearsal times.

YOUTH CHOIR— A new youth choir is starting in August 2009.  They will begin meeting for practice on Sunday afternoons at 2:00 pm.  Contact Brian Chancey for more information. Hear their anthem on the ipod!  They sounded great!

YOUTH WORSHIP TEAM — A Youth Worship Team leads the youth in worship for UMYF on Sunday afternoons at 4pm.  Practices and worship planning take place on Wednesday evenings at 5:30.  Go to the youth ministry page for more information or contact Anna Fleming.

Additional instrumental and vocal soloists and ensembles contribute periodically to help in the worship experience.
